You don’t need to nail down your homeschool style in order to homeschool effectively, but knowing which style you gravitate toward can be helpful for several reasons.
- You’ll get a leg up on narrowing down which resources or curriculum might be a good fit for your family.
- It will give you language to help you find like-minded homeschoolers to spend your time with.
- You’ll have a shortcut in deciding which co-ops, classes, and support groups to pursue.
In short, it gives you an advantage in wading through the overabundance of information and resources available to us nowadays as homeschoolers!
You may not find one particular style that perfectly captures your homeschool approach. And that’s okay! Lots of homeschoolers are eclectic, drawing from a variety of styles. And many of us see our homeschool style shift and change as the years go by. But even if no one homeschool style describes you fully, it’s still worthwhile to take some time to reflect on your values and your goals for your children’s education.
